He founded the Laboratory of Coordinate Metrology, one of the best laboratories in the world that works as a PCA-accredited calibration laboratory. he managed and implemented 20 domestic and 3 foreign grants financed by the EU, KBN, MNiSzW, NCBR. He is the author and co-author of about 400 scientific and research papers, including about 200 publications, of which 25 in JCR journals, 3 scientific books including one 475-page book published in a global publishing house - Jerzy A. Sładek - Coordinate Metrology - Accuracy of Systems and Measurements - Springer Verlag 2016. He was the promoter of 11 completed PhDs and 4 further PhD processes are open. In his specialty, he achieved a high scientific position in the country, which is reflected in dozens of reviews of doctoral and postdoctoral dissertations and applications for the title of professor. He also have high global recognition and position. He is constantly cooperating with many European universities and the largest research centers, where he was invited to give lectures. He initiated international agreements with EC Lion and Heidelberg University. For years he has been organizing joint projects and lectures by visiting professors from PTB, TU Braunschweig, TU Erlangen, NTB Buchs, EC Lion, Univ. di Padova, CERN Geneva which gives him the opportunity to implement new methods of education and research.

Currently, his scientific, research and innovation activity falls within the Mechanical Engineering discipline (Construction and Exploitation of Machines and connects with the area of Production Engineering and Automatics and Robotics) focusing in the coordinate metrology specialty and its application in production engineering. He developed this specialty as one of its pioneers in Poland, obtaining the first degrees of PhD and DSc (habilitation), and as the first one who obtained the academic title of professor.

He is an author/co-author of more than 80 research papers, including one monography, 17 chapters in monographies and 20 papers published in JCR indexed international journals. He have also presented the results of his research at over a dozen of international scientific conferences, e.g. at the IMEKO World Congresses in Busan in 2012, in Prague in 2015 (award for the best publication with the participation of young scientists) and in Belfast in 2018 r. He is also a co-author of 3 patents for material standards used for determination of probing systems errors. He act as a reviewer in many internationally recognized scientific journals for which he have already performed more than 100 reviews and has a status of “Outstanding Reviewer” in three of them (“Precision Engineering”, “Measurement” and “Measurement, Science & Technology”). He is also an expert reviewer in projects submitted to The European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR). He was a principal investigator in two research projects (prestigious LIDER program financed by NCBiR and NCN SONATA program), supervisor of one project for young researchers and a member of research group in 5 other projects. In 2011 he was awarded a PhD with distinction at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Cracow University of Technology and was the youngest PhD promoted in 2011 at this university. In 2018 he was awarded higher doctorate degree - DSc (habilitation) also as a youngest scientist who received this degree on that year at Cracow University of Technology. As a member of accredited calibration lab he cooperates with many companies from different branches of industry. They include Volkswagen, Fiat Auto Poland, ALSTOM Power, ArcelorMittal, APTIV, Hexagon Metrology GmbH, Carl Zeiss, Renishaw, etc. He is responsible for coordination of international cooperation of Laboratory of Coordinate Metrology with NTB Buchs, Univ. di Padova, TU Braunschweig, International Space University Strasbourg, University of Belgrade, Centro de Apoio Tecnológico Indústria Metalomecânica, University of Novi Sad.

His scientific interests include issues related to coordinate metrology (in scales ranging from nanometers to large volume objects), in-process metrology, coordinate measuring systems (including mobile measuring systems and computed tomography systems), measurement accuracy, simulation and numerical methods in metrology (especially the Monte Carlo method) and methods for identifying and correcting geometric errors of machines.
